Deliver & Adapt
The Deliver and Adapt phase in the partnering process serves ro sustain your initial partnering efforts and translate them into long-term success. This part of the toolkit emphasises the importance of adaptive leadership and management, in particular, the ability to regularly adapt and adjust plans based on new information gained from the partnering process and what we learn from each other. It also provides tools to measure your partnering progress, draw up an effective communication strategy and build a learning culture.
In this phase we look at:
- Learning by Doing: We focus on adaptive planning and management and the importance of building a learning component into your partnership from the beginning. This will help to step into action without waiting for the ‘perfect plan’ and to pause, reflect and learn to shift direction if needed.
- Sustaining Partnerships: Partnering processes can start off enthusiatically but then fade away or implode when confronted by challenges. The good news is that there are ways to naigate these pitfalls based on lessons drawn from previous partnering processes.
- Sustaining Change: We look at human behavioural insights that will equip you to understand why people (and institutions) sometimes resist change and how to overcome this.
Through this phase we link short-term action around practical issues to long-term system change which requires partnering for the long haul.
Learning by Doing
This section discusses incorporating a learning process into your partnership for adaptive planning and management, enabling regular, brief pauses to reflect on progress, learn from new information, and adjust plans as needed.
Sustaining Partnerships
This section guides sustaining partnerships beyond initial setup, measuring benefits to society, the collective, individual partners, and participants, while addressing attitudes and behaviors that can undermine collaborative success.
Sustaining Change
Partnering is not an end, but a means to give effect to change in a particular system. This means that your real goal is being able to initiate and sustain change, through collaborative effort.
